Tomato Shout OutBy Michael Nolan

Howdy all you Tomato Casualfolk, it is Michael again with a special request.

I am on a search for anyone who grows tomatoes to share their story with me.

What exactly is the point of this invasion of your tomato privacy? Glad you asked!

Well first of all, I’m nosy. I want to know everything I can about everyone I can. More importantly, I would like to start interviewing some of you via email for regular features here on Tomato Casual.

Some of you people are crazier than I am, and I want to share some of your tomato insanity with our lovely readers!

All you need to do to show that you don’t mind being involved in this very unserious unscientific unstudy is to leave a comment here with a way for me to contact you. I’ll respond with an email so I can delve into your deepest and darkest tomato secrets for a tell-all exposé right here on TC!

C’mon, you know you want to!

  4. Nancy Bond Says:

I wish I could play along — it’s been a few years since I’ve grown tomatoes, but we did have some beauties. Good luck — this is a great idea.

Everyone: I will be in touch soon, I promise.

…and Nancy, no such luck lady! I’ve got my eye on you already!

I would like to join…but I can’t promise that tomatoes are my strong suit…I do have quite a few different varieties of seedlings, tho…

  7. Caryn Says:

I want to play too! I have been growing tomatoes up strings for years. I have pictures!

  8. Julie F Says:

I’d love to join in. I grew up in the rural south and planted, grew, picked, and ate more tomatoes than I can count.

We found this call out a little late in the season but here we are… better late than never… right??

You wanna talk tomato obsessed?? 21 tomato plants in 11 different heirloom varieties in a 20×20 urban patio space behind our townhouse.

    We’re in… bring it!

I caught this 15mo late but in case you’re still scouting, I’ve for some reason gotten very very into tomato growing lately, with 27 varieties growing this year in my community garden plots. I am keeping detailed records of yields. I’ve gotten into grafting, for increased disease resistance/vigor (10ft tall!), and making 2-headed plants (1 plant grows 2 different varieties off 2 leaders). I now have canned sauce of every color. Happy to relate techniques and experience to willing ears (as my friends aren’t that excited about it 🙂

  11. Marilyn Says:

Sure I will give it a try. Can use all the help I can get. I have a small garden in my back yard. But love growing tomatoes.
