Tall Tomatoes

We’ve already discussed growing huge tomatoes here at Tomato Casual, but what about huge tomato plants?

Check out some of these:

Here’s a couple in Iowa who grew a 10-foot tomato plant using 8-foot homemade cages made of rebar and wire. Impressive!

This woman’s plant only grew to 9 feet, but it’s all the more impressive because she’s in Boston, where the growing season doesn’t really start until June:

But my favorite is this guy, in Georgia, whose tallest plant is 11’ 9” tall. He doesn’t use pesticides and says of growing enormous plants, “it’s not much work.” Right on!

The tallest tomato plant on record was a hydroponically grown Sungold in England in 2000. It grew to 65 feet before conking out, presumably from exhaustion.

Anybody out there got stories or photos of impressively tall tomato plants to share?
