$1000 Scholarship to be Awarded by North Carolina Tomato Growers

Are you or your child majoring in horticulture or agribusiness at a college or university in North Carolina?

Apply now for the $1000 scholarship from the North Carolina Tomato Growers Association.

There will be 1 scholarship awarded for a student in either an undergraduate or graduate program.

The scholarship will be based on the best applicant that demonstrates : leadership, scholarly achievement, extracurricular activities, initiative, and financial need.

The conditions of the scholarship, per their website, are:

“The scholarship is contingent on the recipient maintaining at least a 2.5 grade-point average out of a possible 4.0 on all course work during the scholarship period.

The recipient must be enrolled for the entire school year to receive the full scholarship. Scholarship funds will be distributed through the financial aid office of the attending student’s college or university. The scholarship will be paid in two installments, $500 per semester.”

The application is available for printing on their website.  It must be returned to the NC Tomato Growers Association by June 30th, 2009. You will also need to gather three letters of recommendation and include a wallet-sized photograph.

Attend Tomato Field Day, held at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Station, in August for the announcement of the winner.
