I think I’ve just played one of the strangest tomato games ever.
My Google Alerts mentioned something about a game called “El Tomato Tornado.”
With a name like that, I knew I had to check it out.
The game offers a concise description : “Tomatoes can’t hurt you, the baddest wrestler in town, el Tornado! Or can they? In this game, dodge all the tomatoes you can, or get K.O.’ed!”
I clicked on “play” for the Flash game and found myself guiding a wrestler with a tomato for a head. It reminded me of Lucha Libre or the WWE. A crowd cheers and boos in the background. The ropes twang when you hit them and the tomatoes make a squishing sound when they hit you.

I’ve sometimes cringed a little when I hear about the big tomato fight events, like La Tomatina in Buñol, Spain.
I know it’s tradition and people enjoy it thoroughly, but I also think about how many people those tomatoes could feed.
I was at least a bit happier when I learned about a recent such event in Reno, Nevada.
They wanted to recreate the famous Spanish tomato fight in their own city, with a twist.
Participants paid $10 on August 29th, 2009 to join in the tomato chucking fun. If they wanted to aim their weapons at the mayors of Reno or Sparks, they paid $50. All money went to the American Cancer Society.
Forty thousand pounds of tomatoes were donated by Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes you just need to take a break from the worries of life and play a game.
Maybe your kids want to have fun while you are using the computer.
Why not play one that features tomatoes?
Here are some tomato games that I found. They are pretty simple, but they are still fun to try at least.
1) Tomato Ketchup
For this game, you are a cute little tomato stuck in a ketchup making machine. You have to use the arrow keys to move and jump onto platforms, or else you will fall into the bubbling sauce or be squished at the top of the machine. The game gives you 3 lives. Simple concept but it wasn’t easy when I tried.
2) Tomato Bounce
In this game, you have control of a spatula. There are tomatoes that are trying to avoid being put into a salad. You have to move the spatula back and forth as the tomatoes bounce off the counter and keep Read the rest of this entry »
